Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- •Your email address and a securely hashed password (if you sign up with email/password), or
- •Basic profile information from Google Sign-In (name, email address, profile photo) if you choose to sign in with Google.
This information is used to create and secure your account and is stored via Firebase Authentication (a Google service).
User Content
mysipnotes lets you create tasting notes and records about wine. This may include:
- •Wine names, ratings, tasting notes, and other details you enter
- •Photos of wine labels that you take with your device's camera or select from your photo library
- •Voice notes / audio recordings you record within the app to capture tasting impressions
- •Location data (precise or approximate) that you choose to attach to a tasting entry, to record where you tasted a wine
All of this content is stored in your account so it syncs across your devices and is associated with you. Photos and audio you create are stored using Firebase Cloud Storage, and your notes/metadata are stored in Firebase Firestore (both Google Cloud services).
Camera and Photo Library Access
The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely so you can photograph or select images of wine labels to attach to your tasting notes. We do not access your camera or photo library except when you actively choose to take or select a photo within the App.
Location Data
The App requests access to your device's precise and/or approximate location so you can optionally tag a tasting entry with the place where you tasted a wine. Location access is used only when you choose to attach a location to an entry, and you can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings without affecting the rest of the App's functionality.
Microphone / Audio Recordings
The App requests access to your device's microphone so you can record voice notes describing your tasting impressions. Audio is only recorded when you actively start a recording within the App, and recordings are stored as part of your tasting notes as described above.
Subscription and Purchase Information
mysipnotes offers optional premium subscriptions, processed through:
- •Apple App Store (for iOS purchases)
- •Google Play Store (for Android purchases)
- •RevenueCat, a subscription management platform that helps us validate purchases and manage entitlements across platforms
When you make a purchase, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat process your payment and provide us with information such as your subscription status, entitlement, purchase/renewal dates, and an anonymized purchaser identifier. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — these are handled entirely by Apple and Google.
Automatically Collected Information
We may automatically collect limited technical information necessary to operate the App, such as:
- •Device identifiers used by Firebase Authentication and RevenueCat to associate your account/purchases with your device
- •Basic diagnostic information (e.g., crash logs), if applicable
We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- •Create and maintain your account
- •Store, sync, and display your tasting notes, photos, voice notes, and location tags across your devices
- •Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features
- •Process and manage subscriptions and premium entitlements
- •Communicate with you about your account (e.g., security or service notices)
- •Maintain the security and integrity of the App
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content for advertising purposes.
How We Share Your Information
We only share information with the service providers that help us operate the App, and only as necessary to provide our services:

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Data Retention
We retain your account information and user content for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide you the App's services. If you delete your account (or request deletion, see "Your Rights and Choices"), we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain certain records (e.g., transaction records) for legal or accounting purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- •Access the personal data we hold about you
- •Correct inaccurate data
- •Delete your account and associated data
- •Export your data in a portable format
- •Withdraw consent for optional permissions (camera, photo library, location, microphone) at any time via your device's settings

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. California residents have the right to request access to, deletion of, or correction of their personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
European Economic Area / UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing your information are: performance of a contract (providing the App's core features), consent (for optional permissions like camera, location, and microphone), and legitimate interests (maintaining and securing the App). You have the rights described above, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls provided by Firebase. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
mysipnotes is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. mysipnotes is also a wine-related app intended for users of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers (such as Google Firebase) operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
